Welcome to Good Harbor Wood, my newest passion in woodcraft. I’m Dean Hedstrom; my little woodturning studio overlooks Good Harbor Bay in Grand Marais.
I come honestly to woodworking. My great grandfather Olof Erssen Hedstrom turned and built spinning wheels in Sweden. Grandfather Andrew Hedstrom built many schools, buildings, and houses in Cook County, later became a lumberman, and in 1914 started Hedstrom Lumber Company, which still thrives today. My father, Art Hedstrom, while following a different professional career, pursued his avocation in wood craftsmanship, building furniture and houses and teaching me much along the way.
